A Day In The Life Of Glenn, Greymouse Test Analyst

Published by: Greymouse Marketing | 12 October, 2022

An unwavering belief in oneself and an optimistic spirit is Glenn’s secret to getting where he is now.

With grit and wit, Glenn went from being a Quality Assurance Tester to getting a promotion and becoming a Test Analyst within three years of his stay at Greymouse.

QA Tester? Test Analyst? What’s the difference?

QA Testers are active throughout the cycle of the project. They are assigned to ensure a great user experience by improving the existing software, its process and usability. Test Analysts are generally active during the backend coding cycle. They are the ones who examine the code, conduct tests and document their findings as well as develop solutions for any faults they find.

Here is how Glenn helps his dedicated client, as a Test Analyst:

Review and analyse system specifications
Collaborate with QA to develop effective strategies and test plans
Execute test cases and analyse results
Create logs to document testing phases and defects
Report bugs and errors to development teams
Help troubleshoot issues
Conduct post-release, post-implementation testing, regression testing, exploratory testing, mobile testing and bug testing
Create TC using manual and gherkin format/TCI Design
API Testing

“I usually create test cases and test new features,” Glenn adds when asked what he does daily. “[It is crucial for a fellow Test Analyst to] be good in investigating the software [we are working on]— from small details, minor issues and to the main functions of the software. You should be meticulous to ensure only the best for the product.”

Glenn also stated that aside from the hard skills, if one plans to pursue the same field of expertise, one should also acquire traits like dependability, adaptability and teamwork.

“[It is important to stay] motivated in learning new things,” Glenn told us when asked what encourages him to work harder. “[I believe] that you should only move forward every day— and be better than you were yesterday.”

For Glenn, career development is what he looks forward to at work every day. He has been very dedicated to learning new things as well as appreciating and valuing the significance of building his experience as he regards this as practical in his professional journey.

“Never stop learning,” he repeats when asked what advice he would like to give to his colleagues. “However, it is also important to not rush things that need time to grow.”

Glenn shared that one of the best parts of working at Greymouse would be having friendly colleagues who are as dedicated as he is at work.

“Greymouse has a strong foundation that has been tested many times, having been hit by worldly challenges. Greymouse— its fortitude is what makes them the frontiers in the outsourcing industry for many years, and it will remain as that in many years to come.”
